See How We Can Protect Your Smile With General Dentistry
Checkups are important for many reasons, but initially, for me, it would be just to get the funk off your teeth, because if the funky stuff that you see is on your teeth, and you know it’s not…that’s not your tooth, if that continues to stay on the tooth structure, it’s gonna breed below the tissue line, and it can eat the bone away, and at some point, honestly, it can make your teeth fall out.
At Arlington Dental, what we like to do when we get you here, a lot of why we love what we do, and why our patients love coming here, is the education process. I say this every day, and anybody that sees this, that is a patient here, or my staff will laugh, because it’s true. Every time a new patient gets here for the first time, we want them to understand that everything that we see, you’re gonna see. You may want to or not, but you’re going to see what we see, be it from the exam scan, from intraoral pictures that we take, from our 3D imaging. You’re gonna understand what we see, because it’s a better conversation for us to have, because you know what we’re talking about. You can see it with us. I’m very visual. Most of us are when it comes to teeth, because you can’t see back here in your mouth. And a lot of times when you come in, you just want your teeth cleaned but if you have cavities you can’t see, we can show them to you. You’re not hurting. I hear it every day, “I’m not hurting. I’m okay.” But if you can see that there’s a big black spot on your tooth, it can make you understand, “Oh, I probably should get that fixed, because I wanna spend money on a filling versus a root canal and a crown because it’s way less expensive.”
Or if we show you a picture in your mouth, an actual picture of your old amalgam silver filling that’s broken down and is cracking the tooth. You can tell us you’re not hurting and you’re probably not. But I can tell you the tooth is cracked because I can show you an intraoral picture with this translucent light that we take pictures with to show cracks in teeth, to where it helps you get the treatment work you need on the front end to save the teeth with way less of a price tag.
